The Kwara state polytechnic recently played host to the first research organised by the polytechnic research foundation titled: Research integrity and publications ethics.

According to the Rector, Alh Masud Elelu who was the lead paper presenter there was the need to always adhere to pillars of research, such as clarity, originality, credibility, and other ethical standards in research by lecturers and students so as to always ensure authenticity of the research. The research foundation is the first of its kind in the history of polytechnics in Nigeria.

The aim of the event according to the organizers was to broaden the knowledge base of participants and to contribute positively to academic standards. Earlier in his welcome address, a member of the Board of Trustees, Polytechnic Research Foundation, Pastor Adewoyin Victor noted that the aim of the foundation is to re-engineer the reputation of Nigeria Polytechnic and add value to the existing systems. Adewoyin added that since research is the driving force in sustaining development, government at all levels must increase allocations to the polytechnic sector in other not to make the technological growth of the country to be a mirage. According to him, "the increasing relevance of the polytechnic system in Nigeria must be tackled with innovative ideas and scheme which are key indicators of quality education." He therefore solicit for the support of all stakeholders in re-engineering polytechnic research nexus towards achieving a genuinely technical, vocational and entrepreneurial centered Polytechnic education.
