Alh. Mas’ud Elelu – Rector

Born on July 27, 1954 in Alanamu Ward, Ilorin West Local Government, Kwara State, Mas’ud Elelu started his early education at N. A.  Primary School, Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State (former Gongola State) in January 1961 December, 1965.

He attended Government Seondary School, Yola from January 1966 – December, 1970 and Government Secondary, Okene, from 1971 – December 1972. His Tertiary Education took him to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (September 1973 to June 1976).  After his first degree, he went back to Ahmadu Bello University again between 1980 and 1981 for his Master of Science in Biochemistry.  The knack for more higher degrees took him to Bayero University, Kano in October 1998 – August 1999 where he bagged Post Graduate Diploma in Management. Between October 2001 to January, 2003, he was again in Bayero University for his Master in Business Administration (MBA).

A man of many parts, Mas’ud undertook his National Youth Service Corp Programme (NYSC) at the Government College, Bida Niger State between 1976 and 1977. His working experience started at his alma matter, Ahmadu Bello University as a Laboratory Demonstrator between 1980 and 1981. In September 1981, he gained an appointment with the reknowned Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna as Lecturer (II) from where he rose to the position of Senior Lecturer in 1989.

His quest to earn his daily living and to contribute his own quota to the industrial training and development of Nigeria took him to the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in 1990 as Principal Training Development Officer in Lagos, from where he rose to the rank of Director (Training) Head of Department in February 2004. Between January 2007 and September 2008 he was a training consultant. Masu’d Elelu moved to Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust Newspapers, an Abuja – based media house, where he rose to the post of Senior Manager (Training).


He is a member of several professional bodies, such as Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, Nigerian Institute of Training and Development, Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals, among others.


1994   –           Best Area Office of Industrial Training Fund – (Katsina)

1995   –           Award for 3rd Best Area Office of Industrial Training Fund (Katsina)

1996   –           Best Area Manager of the year of the Industrial Training Fund

1997   –           Awarad for 3rd Best Area Office of Industrial Training Fund (Kano),    among several others.


He was a member of Academic Board, Federal Polytechnic Kaduna between 1983 – 1987, Member, Editorial Board of Technology News, a Publication of Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna. Between 1987 to 1989, he was Chairman, Northern chapter, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology. He became the Chairman, ITF Committee on Establishment of proposed MTN Graduate Internship programme in 2004, while in the same year, he was appointed, Chairman, ITF Committee on Appraisal of shell Petroleum Development Company Intensive Training Programme for Graduates, Port Harcourt and several others.

He has attended several seminars and workshops where he has presented papers on so many topical issues such as Consultancy Methodology Workshop, Industrial Training Fund, Job, November 1989, In-plant Productivity Workshop, Industrial Training Fund, Ibadan, 1990, Train the Trainer on Entrepreneurship Development, AS CON, Badagry, Lagos, 2004, Logical Frame Work Workshop organised by UNICEF for selected ITF Staff, Lokoja, 2005, Job Specification Workshop Organised by ITF, Ibadan, 2006 and many others.  Married with children, his watch word is Justice with fair play.
