KWARA POLY INTRODUCES JACKET FOR OKADA RIDERS
In continuation of its efforts to improve on the security network within the campus, the Management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has introduced the use of jackets for Okada riders and stickers for vehicles and Keke Maigida operating within the Polytechnic.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Rector (Academics), Engr. Ahmed Aminu disclosed that the main objective is for easy identification of the vehicles/motorcycle operating within the Polytechnic.
Aminu lauded the transporters union in the Polytechnic for their cooperation and understanding, urging them to strive towards improving on service delivery and be security conscious to avoid miscreants from hijacking their operation.
The Deputy Rector also advised students to desist from boarding vehicles by the road side, adding that students Union Government should organize sensitization workshop for students on the dangers inherent in such act.
Responding, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Kwara Poly Branch, Mr. Emmanuel Kayode and his counterpart from Oja-Oba branch, Mr. Abdulwaheed Olateju appreciated the efforts of the Management in improving the security network within the campus.
They, however, urged the school authority to increase the number of security personnel at the school motor park for proper coordination of the students while boarding vehicles, as well as to ensure proper parking of vehicles by the drivers
The chairman who urged all members of NURTW, Keke Maigida operators and Okada riders to obtain the stickers and jackets, called on the Management of the Polytechnic to ban unauthorized commercial vehicles from entering the Polytechnic.
